What We Will Not Do
We won't give you a firm price over the phone for a broken spring, a bent track, or an opener that's stopped working, without knowing what's actually wrong. A lot of outfits will quote a number before they've seen the door just to get the job on the books, and then the number changes once the truck's in your driveway. We don't do that here.
We also won't quote a full replacement when a repair will do the job. Covington has a lot of housing built between 1938 and 2002, with the bulk of it going up in the 1980s and 90s across the nine areas we work in. That spread means we see everything from doors that are genuinely worn out and not worth fixing again, to doors with a bad spring or a stripped gear that have years left in them. We tell you which one you've got, not which one is easier to sell.
What we won't do is skip the walk-around. Track alignment, panel condition, the opener's age, whether the springs match the door weight - all of that changes the number, and none of it can be judged from a photo you text us.
Last thing: we don't price jobs outside our service area. If you're well past Between or Monroe, we may not be the right call.
The Short Version
Call (770) 230-5914 or stop by 14290 Lochridge Blvd, Covington, GA 30014, and tell us what the door is doing - won't open, won't close, makes noise, came off track, opener's dead. We'll ask the make of the door if you know it, roughly how old it is, and whether it's a single or double. That gets us a rough idea before we ever see it.
An accurate number needs a few more things: door width and height, spring type (torsion or extension), how many panels are damaged if any, and whether the opener is original to the door or was swapped out later. Houses built in the 1980s and 90s around Covington often still have their original hardware, which matters a lot - original torsion springs on a 30-plus-year-old door are a different job than a modern extension spring replacement.
We price the job once someone's looked at the door in person. Winters here run on the cold side of moderate, which is hard on seals and on springs that have been cycling for decades, so we check both even if that's not what you called about. No price is final until that's done.
The Work We Take On
We work on residential garage doors and openers - springs, cables, rollers, tracks, panels, and the full range of opener repairs and swaps. We serve Covington and the surrounding area, including Oxford two miles out, Porterdale at four miles, and Social Circle around eight miles, along with Walnut Grove, Rutledge, Between, Monroe, Lithonia, and Good Hope further out.
Median household income across our service area sits at $58,594, and there are roughly 4,488 owner-occupied houses among the 10,013 households we could be driving to on any given day. Most of the doors we touch are original or close to it, which is a byproduct of housing stock that runs from 1938 up through 2002, median build year 1983. That's a lot of torsion hardware nobody stocks on a shelf anymore, and it's a big part of why we need to see the door before we quote it.
We don't do new construction installs as a standalone line of business, and we're not the right call for commercial overhead doors. If that's what you need, say so up front and we'll tell you plainly whether it's a fit before you waste a trip waiting on us.
Frequently asked questions
Can you give me a price over the phone?
We can give you a rough range once we know the door type, size, and what's wrong, but the firm number comes after someone looks at the spring type, track condition, and opener. A door that looks like a simple spring job sometimes turns out to be a bent track underneath it, and that changes the price.
Do you charge to come look at the door?
We don't have a published fee to state here, so ask when you call (770) 230-5914. What we can tell you is that the in-person look is what the final quote is based on - we don't price sight-unseen jobs.
How old is too old for a repair instead of a replacement?
It depends more on condition than age. Covington has plenty of doors from the 1980s still running fine on original hardware. We look at the panels, track, and springs in person and tell you honestly whether a repair holds up or whether you're better off replacing.
Do you work outside Covington itself?
Yes, within the area we cover - Oxford, Porterdale, Social Circle, Walnut Grove, Rutledge, Between, Monroe, Lithonia, and Good Hope. If you're further out than that, call and ask before you wait on a quote.
